Quality Window Systems, Inc., in Pomeroy, Ohio, embodies the title of a “family owned business”. Albert “Big Al” Tromm started the business in October 1993, and it has remained a family owned business with four members of the Tromm family active in the day-to-day operations. Big Al’s sons, Carl and Clayton, now own the business and their wives, Barbara and Kim, handle the financials and customer service.

Quality Window Systems, Inc. installs replacement windows, doors, vinyl & siding accessories, as well as custom patio porch & deck enclosures. They know how important the fit, finish and overall appearance of windows are for your home. Quality Window Systems, Inc. uses only the best products available in vinyl replacement windows, while dealing direct with the factory, so that the savings can be passed directly on to their customer. There are many factors to consider when choosing your windows, doors or enclosures however, they realize that it can be overwhelming when considering insulation values, structural performance and air or water infiltration ratings. This is why it is so valuable to have a knowledgeable and trustworthy company guiding you through every step of the process.

“The SBDC has given me the confidence and support to help run our small family business. When I started, I knew very little about how to help run a business. As employee’s and family members moved on, I was given more & more responsibility when it came to the business inner-workings & financials… and it was quite scary for me. It wasn’t until we saw all of the amazing FREE help the SBDC offered and started signing up for as many classes as we could. Those classes, combined with one on one assistance, have really helped us feel confident in what we did know and helped guide us through new territory… better understanding of: Profit & Loss Statements, Balance Sheets, Specific Computer Programs, Marketing/Advertising, and we are still taking classes,” said Barbara Tromm.

“Barbara and her family through their business have been a pleasure to have as a client. It has been rewarding to see a business utilize so much of the services and opportunities the Small Business Development Center offers. In addition to the various trainings, such as Profit Mastery and QuickBooks, Barbara participated in the eight week long Market Research Project with students from the Center of Entrepreneurship. Quality Window Systems has actively engaged in becoming the best business they can be.” says Erin Gibson, Counselor at the OU SBDC.

The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the Ohio University Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs has assisted Quality Window Systems, Inc. during its continued growth in a wide array of services ranging from free workshops to industry benchmarking. “The business has always remained stable. Over the last few years, there has been a small, but steady increase. Now, thanks to the SBDC, we have better tools to help us to continue making good business decisions,” said Barbara.
